Checksum in the WP file, what is it?

I'm making my own course by typing in the numbers in the WP file, but I don't know what to put for the checksum at the end of each line. Does it matter what I put there? Can I leave it out? and what about the asterek in front of the checksum number? Can I eliminate the asterek? If anyone can help me with this I would greatly appreciate it.

A message from chairman Goedde

I have been away from this site for a long time now, so maybe a little update is in order. I have not stopped working or gone away. Quite the contrary. Faster progress than ever. It is sort of freaking me out how much is here as I list it out. Mostly IMU autopilot related:

The Millswood Eng. GCS

I've been playing around with the ME GCS and it is working great. For anyone not trying this, it is easy to use and provides a wealth of information. Check out the video that shows the GCS in replay mode (from log file data). The red dots by the indicators are the target values so you can see how the target and actual values are related.

While you are playing a log file, click on the "KML file generation" button and a file will automatically be generated for opening a 3D flight path in… Continue

Understanding Atto Telemetry Downlink

I have line $110 set to 2. This is supposed to mean 2 second delay between Atto messages. I've been going through the donwnlink data to work on a custom GCS for my school project, and am not sure how to handle time. I get a time update with each $GPGGA string, and often get 2-3 $ATTO strings between each $GPGGA string. How do I know how much time has passed between $ATTO strings? The reason I need to know is so that my GCS can study rates of change of several $ATTO parameters. Attached is a… Continue

Setting speed?

Which takes precedence, the speed set in a set file, or the speed set in the waypoint file?

Hergest Ridge

Just playing some music on the most excellent Spotify and I had a light bulb moment. The album cover of Hergest Ridge was perhaps my starting inspiration for all this milarky.

I might just have to visit it and fly from the top. You probably can't see in this image but theres an RC glider behind the dog.

It shall be placed on my MP3 player and when I get a gap it shall be flown!!

SD card info

I wanted to share my experiences with the micro SD cards so others won't go through the same hassles.

I bought the lowest memory card I could find locally which was a Sandisk 2GB and couldn’t get AttoPilot to communicate with it. I tried bypassing the USB adapter, reformatting, XP vs Vista but no luck. A…

Learning about Communication through Practice and your help, Ning

I have been trying to get my xBee XSC 900 mhz working well with my GCS for a while now. I seem to lose about 50% of my incoming messages (bad checksum). Does anyone here have any experience with this? Is anyone using the GCS to adjust gains in flight? I could really use the help. More specific info to come including graphs, data streams, etc... for all who are interested! Thanks in advance!

A few thoughts in the mean time... I am powering my xBee (Dean's xBee adapter) from Attos power… Continue
