I bought some extra chips for my Attopilot. They we the same as the one that came with atto, except they were larger capacity, 2 gig instead of 1 gig. They didn't work, I was unable to format them with the same settings as the original, my computer said it couldn't do it, and atto wouldn't work at all with them.. But I couldn't find any 1 gig chips in the stores, they told me they were obsolete. But I was able to get one online at www.newegg.com . The 1 gig chip I got there works good, I was… Continue

Has anybody tried sending $T*54 or $T*FF to fire the trigger over a modem (X-Tend)
I have tried a few different ways but can't get it to work.
Please let me know if this works for you and how you did it.

I bought some extra cards for my atto, you know, the little chip that has all the information on it, like the set file and wp file. But the only one that works is the one that came with it. I thought it said somewhere that you have to formatt them before you use them. Can anyone tell me how to do that, or tell me where I can find out?

I noticed line $101 in the generic set file. It is set at =0 It says that your plane is forced into auto when it goes beyond that distance. Well, I flew with it set at zero by accident (I hadn't noticed tthat line) and you would thnk my plane would have been forced into auto all the time, and I wouldn't be able to fly manually at all. But that didn't happen. Now that I noticed this line, it makes me worry. Can I set it at 10000 or something high like that to make sure it doesn't activate? Or… Continue

Now upto 10 short flights, my prop motor combination is horrid, the Manta, or cheese wedge or screaming banshee is flying very well though, pleased with that part. Uber stable and quite floaty. Thats from 70 minutes in the air so far. Will re motor and prop next week and hopefully start pushing the flight times… Continue

When you connect the receiver to the attopilot, you use three wires for each of the servos (+5v, ground, and signal) and three more for the mode (channel 5). That's 12 or more wires. But since two of the three wires for each servo are for power (red and black), can't you eliminate 6 of the wires and only use one red and one black and the rest would just be white signal wires? For most of you it probably doesn't matter. But for me, I'm runnig out of room in my funjet and it would help to get rid… Continue

15 gusting first go, had to trim the wing a bit as I had relocated the battery, but am blown away, by far the easiest install ever, I shall have a few more flights if it ever stops raining and blowing and then onto the new wing.
Thanks for the set file Chris it worked!
Only one complete circle and then half of the next before the rain started and I chickened out. All the dodgy stuff at the beginning is my hand… Continue

I put an extra tail on my Funjet, in the middle, and cut the two side tails down to half size. The plan ws to mount the horizon sensor on top of the new middle tail so it would have a clear view of the horizon. When I tested it Sunday night it crashed. I think it was pilot error. I didn't have any of the atto components on board. It crashed strait down into the ground at about 60 mph? (estimate). I'm not a good test pilot. Two days later it ws flying again. But it doesn't look the same. It… Continue

Just adding this as a blog post for my own reference later.
RTL arrived, have set servos etc correctly, gear switch for auto/manual and was pleased to see that leaving the airframe in the window the GPS quickly saw some sats.
Now I'm about to sleep but thinking about a pitot and just how long it should be, just long enough to get out of any disturbed air I guess. Any tips out there?? (no pun intended)
Will sink the unit into the wing I think.
So far… Continue
